Art Speak is a monthly community support event for artists who crave inspiration, feedback, critique, and peer support. The meeting format is informal, organic, and open to all artists of all ages and mediums.

Instructor Ron Baker is a 25-year professional with 20 years of teaching to his credit. He presents his knowledge in an easy-to-understand non-technical way that strips away the frustration. Ron’s fun approach makes each class enjoyable and something to look forward to while challenging you to improve.

In this 6-week course, you will learn about:
Program Modes, Manual Settings, Proper Exposure, Depth of Field, Motion, ISO, White Balance, Highlights, Shadows, Light, Composition, and Subject Matter.

Art speak is a monthly community support event for artists who crave inspiration, feedback, critique, and peer support. The meeting format is informal, organic and open to all artists of all age ranges and medium. If you would like to feature your work for open critique, please use the contact form on this site to arrange. Everyone is encouraged to bring a recent work to display for casual discussion. This monthly gathering will be a place to ask questions and share information such as (how do I price my work? Where do I exhibit/sell my work? What art shows are coming up? Where can I purchase certain supplies? Does anyone have such and such I can borrow? Where can I take a class? Where can I teach a class? Where can I have copies/scans/prints made? All other questions, not mentioned here, are up for you to bring. This first meeting will be a catalyst for further development and interest. I hope to see you there!

Final Friday is a monthly event that is normally 5-9PM but JUNE is planned to be a day-long celebration for the 4 years in business at 31 West Spring Street. Come see and purchase new local art, engaging conversation, and snacks.

Community Drum Circle

On April 15th at 10 am, the Tennessee Tech Percussion Studio will host a community drum circle for elementary and middle school students.

ENJOY THE ARTS! Come join us for an amazing evening of song, food, drink, and sing-along during this Special Christmas Celebration and customer appreciation event. Featured will be some of Cookeville's most talented voices.

Doors open at 5.00 P.M. Program begins at 6.00 and goes until 8.00.

$10 suggested donation. Also enjoy special prices on all art purchases all day.

As an artist, communicating your work is a necessary part of what you do. This 4-Hour workshop teaches you how to overcome the challenges of photographing your art. Drawings, paintings, ceramics, sculptures, textiles, or jewelry each of which requires a different approach. Photographically, some of the most difficult situations to capture are high-contrast, glossy, or heavily textured pieces. This workshop will address, demonstrate, and teach you how to overcome such challenges. Since the public likes to see, meet or understand the artist whose work they are purchasing, we will also go over headshots. As a bonus, every attendee will receive a voucher for a complimentary headshot and one piece of art photographed to reproduction quality.
Snacks and beverages will be provided.

BEGINNING PHOTOGRAPHY is designed for the novice and those individuals who seek a better understanding of their camera operations while developing their eye for better composition.

August's Final Friday Art Show features the works of Jon Anderson, David Jewett, Ginger Newborn, Rick Austin, Helga Skinner and Maria Warrens. Purchase art, meet the artists, network, and enjoy an evening of friends and live music. Final Friday is a free public event that occurs the last Friday of every month. Parking is available off Church Street.
